Celadon ceramic candleholders, 'Spring Birds' (pair)
At Thatsanee and Ramphan's ceramic studio, new artisan-apprentices learn to hand-paint traditional decorative scenes on pre-glazed celadon ceramics. The final piece is then re-fired to set the one-of-a-kind paintings.

Frolicking deep in the rainforest, pachyderms of all ages appear in bas relief. A symbol of Thailand, elephants were prized by royalty, and white elephants were destined for the king's personal use. Chaiyong Prasertpan crafts this delightful scene on a candle with two wicks.

Swirling fins undulate in a cool jade sea. Painted by hand, they cover a pair of candleholders from Thatsanee and Ramphan. Their exquisite design is painstakingly crafted in the traditional celadon technique with its hallmark crackled finish.

Always alert, a white watchdog brings light to the house. Num Chaiyasien fashions the loyal canine as a ceramic candleholder. A crackled glaze brings visual appeal to the original design.

Two loyal tiny frogs appear like vigilant sentinels guarding these candleholders. Finely detailed, they are crafted by hand of ceramic from Putu Oka Mahendra.
Silver and bronze candleholder, 'Enlightened Horse'
Long and sinuous, a horse wears Indonesian design motifs on its elongated body. Sukaenah sculpts an intriguing image of mythic portent. Cast in bronze and covered in sterling silver, the image holds three candles. .925 rating silver.

Narayana stretches out to sleep on his throne beneath the sea. While the Hindu god sleeps, all is well and the world is happy. But if evil poses a threat, he flies to the rescue, carried by the strong wings of Garuda, who has the face of an eagle but the body of a human.

Perched high in the treetops, a horned owl is illuminated by the full moon. The midnight wind ruffles soft weathers in the hushed forest. Lit by flickering candlelight, the vignette is enchanting in any setting. J. Blas crafts the candleholder by hand of forged iron.

Prowling the night time landscape on silent feet, a sleek cat goes exploring. J. Blas creates the charming image as a candleholder that illuminates feline eyes. He first cuts sheets of forged iron and hammers them into three-dimensional shape.
