'Botafogo Cove'

Tradition colors the costume of this young Lomi Akha bride with rich, festive elegance. She wears an embroidered cotton jacket and elaborate headdress, which includes a cap featuring large studs, silver balls and pendants cast of shiny silver.

Standing like a sentinel, Sugar Loaf Mountain overlooks the deep blue bay where boats traverse serene waters. Above, feathery drift across an azure sky. Robson Sicuro creates a study in sapphire in this inspired portrait of the Rio de Janeiro waterfront.
'Pink Lotus' peace photograph
The waters of an isolated pond reflect their blurred surroundings, focusing attention on the clean green lines of ninfeia, or "lotus." A pair of blossoms grows from the floating lily pads, their petals tinged with rose.
'Mango Jasmine'
Seen up close, petals shade from a golden heart to peach to rose. Anita Soares creates a beautiful depth of field, focusing her lens on the blossoms that seem to rotate. Her subject is the ruby red plumeria blossom, known in Brazil as a mango jasmine.
