'Virgin with the Baby'

Serenely regal, Mary nestles her cheek against little Jesus, who gazes at her lovingly and caresses her with a chubby hand. They wear crowns and silk brocade in 24k gold leaf. Working in the style of the Cuzco school, Alberto Torres recreates colonial art found in the city's convents and monasteries. The painting is framed in cedar wood, carved to represent a retablo, or altarpiece, and covered in gleaming bronze leaf. Titled "Virgen con Ni�o" in Spanish.
