Ceramic nativity scene, 'Christmas in the Great House'

The hacendado, or owner of the vast hacienda opens his home to Mary and Joseph in their search for shelter. From the relative luxury of the great house, the Holy Family receives a visit from shepherds in traditional Andean dress. Dionisio Rojas Guti�rrez crafts a New World creche where strong stone walls provide protection from winter winds and a dove symbolizes the presence of the Holy Spirit.
