Sculpture, 'Ballerina Giraffe'
Dressed in a tutu, a ballerina does a graceful split. The freckles on her legs become spots as they climb her lithe body; her face is that of a giraffe. The whimsical dancer is sculpted in a clay and resin mix by Albert Ickenroth and beautifully painted by hand.
Iron sculpture, 'Blazes' fire truck
Mexico's Armando Ramirez transforms recycled scrap metal and auto parts into this heroic fire truck. Old machine parts, mesh and metal sheeting scraps, found screws, and a pulley, cog, and bearings from auto junkyards are granted new life in his unique creation.
Teak relief panel, 'Hearts and Flowers'
Heart-shaped leaves embrace delicate flowers, forming a harmonious, symmetrical design. Working in teakwood, Nittaya Cherdchu sculpts a lacy floral wall panel.
Wood mask, 'Black Garuda'
Garuda is a Hindu mythological bird that is believed to bring about a better life. The bird is also the incarnation of Vishnu, God of Preservation, for traveling between Heaven and Earth.
Iron statuette, 'Rustic Baseball Players'
The catcher crouches with outstretched glove as the batter prepares to swing. The excitement of baseball inspires Armando Ram�rez. He fashions the figures from discarded pieces of wire and sparkplugs.
Wood statuette, 'Golden Hand'
Ning Charoensri portrays the golden hand of Buddha in rain tree wood. Its graceful gesture serves as a business card holder or a decorative sculpture. A constant reminder of Buddha's divinity, the piece is mounted on a stand of iron and rain tree wood.
'Ki Dukuh, ' mask
In Balinese folklore, Ki Dukuh is an ancient man who lives deep in the jungle, accompanied only by his wife, children and the animals. Ketut Sarwa carves this piece from pule wood, the preferred material among Balinese mask makers for its lightweight properties and subtle color.
