Chain stitched Kashmiri rug, 'Summer Breeze' (2x3)

A whirlwind of vibrant colors sends summer breezes into any interior. Gulam Ahmed's fresh, modern style has its origins in the ancient Kashmiri rug-crafting tradition. Drawn on a cotton backing, the motifs are created in a fine chain stitch. It can take four artisans working simultaneously as long as ten days to complete a single rug. The artist is proud to have received a worldwide copyright on this design. An opening for a tapestry rod permits this piece to double as a wall hanging.
