Benjarong porcelain jar, 'Imperial Display'
An imperial blue pedestal jar is extravagantly gilded and decorated with white flowers, shimmering on an azure background. Its talented creator is Khun Santiparp, a passionate and dedicated artisan who comes from a long line of Benjarong porcelain makers. Benjarong actually means "five colors." Blue, red, yellow, green, and black are the principal colors used in these intricately designed pieces for the royal court and ancient temples. The basic mold is crafted of porcelain earth and special silicates found in Thailand. For decorative use only.
