Coconut shell tray, 'Woven Geometry'
Ketut Sukayasa creates the illusion of a woven piece hand-crafted from coconut shells, slightly concave in demeanor. Sukayasa cuts coconut shells into rectangular shards and allows them to dry either out in the sun or in a kiln. The tray gradually acquires its patterned design as Sukayasa glues the pieces with resin to appear like a weave, or kepang (plait). Makes for an original home accent. Dust with a damp cloth, do not use cleaning agents.
