Applique wall hanging, 'Andean Wedding'

This lovely patchwork illustrates a wedding in a Peruvian town. With her meticulous appliqu� and stitching, Mar�a Uyauri depicts the bridal party in the atrium of a whitewashed church. Bride, groom, priest, friends and family appear in joyous colors. Uyauri creates this beautiful wall hanging in intricate arpiller�a � embroidered appliqu�s of fabric cutouts hand-stitched to a background of cotton. Crafted in three dimensions, each figure is lavishly embroidered. A display rod can slip through an opening at the top.
