Applique wall hanging, 'City Market'

Itinerant vendors line the street in front of shops specializing in clothing, fabrics, wool and flowers. "This is a city market, " Mar�a Uyauri says. "This is a daily reality in Peru." She creates this beautiful wall hanging in intricate arpiller�a � embroidered appliqu�s of fabric cutouts hand-stitched to a background of cotton. Crafted in three dimensions, each figure is lavishly embroidered. A display rod can slip through an opening at the top.
