Wood djembe drum, \'Royal Messenger\'

Carved by hand on smooth tweneboa wood, geometric motifs adorn a beautiful djembe drum. Nana Adu Amankwapam I names it Okyeame, Akan for \"Spokesman.\" This title is usually conferred upon the king\'s personal messenger. The goatskin head is affixed by iron rings wrapped in cloth, and a macram� cord carries it from place to place.
