Wood hand drum, 'Andean Sky'

Carefully crafted with traditional techniques, this lovely hand drum invites Andean rhythms. Juan Len Ponce creates the piece by tightly stretching cowhide over a wooden frame. Bright Cuzco-style ribbons encircle the drumhead, evoking the colors of an Andean sky.

Mate gourd maracas, 'Merengue Rhythm' (pair)

Merengue rhythms come naturally to these handsome maracas. Roco Dvila Rojas crafts them of mate gourds; seeds inside make a seductive noise when they are shaken. Engraved by hand with a plaid motif, they receive their color from baths of smoke.

Wood drum, 'Kokopelli'

Silhouetted on a resonant cowhide drumhead, Kokopelli plays his flute to draw heat from the earth so seeds will grow. The image appears in many areas of the Americas and in rock art dating back thousands of years.

Gourd kalimba thumb piano, 'Mandala'

Shocks of blue and maroon radiate from this kalimba, handcrafted by Tuca. The design is reminiscent of a mandala, or ancient symbol of harmony. The gourd of the cabaa fruit provides the organic body, equipped with a sturdy strap woven from sisal fiber.

Maraca, 'Brazil's Spirits'

Alive with Brazil's national colors, this maraca is set to cast a spell of samba magic. According to Amazon customs, maracas are meant to transport the soul to a spiritual world. Bernard Luthier crafts the instrument by hand from a dried gourd and provides a pinewood handle.
