Wood drum, 'Kokopelli'
Silhouetted on a resonant cowhide drumhead, Kokopelli plays his flute to draw heat from the earth so seeds will grow. The image appears in many areas of the Americas and in rock art dating back thousands of years. Juan Len Ponce crafts this traditional Andean drum with colorful ribbons that emulate ancient weavings. It is played with two boleyna wood drumsticks.
