Cekuntrung guitar, 'The Kangaroo'

Abstract patterns in dots and crosshatching depict a stylized kangaroo. Contrasting dramatically with the sleek, dark background, it lends a unique beauty to this zither. An instrument with strings placed over a shallow horizontal soundboard, the traditional cekuntrung guitar is played with pick and fingers. Ading selects native maja wood for the instrument, with albesia wood and plywood. The strings are metal.
